It just so happened that the management for the buildings in this area was under the company of Meng Yun's father, and to day of all days, that guy was actually free. So being the good person he was, following in the footsteps of Lei Feng and all that, he checked the name of the account owner: Tang Hong, once more and as he did, Meng Yun's mischievous lips curved into a smile.

Luckily, Meng Yun no longer persisted, and simply took the nightgown and left. But knowing that man was never going to give up, Tang Hong still stood guarding the door, while trying to come up with countermeasures.

Well, look at that, it's the little dumdum.

"Tell me! Who does this belong to!" Meng Yun roared, but Tang Hong still tried to grab the nightgown from his hands, not backing down as he also bellowed, "None of your damn business!"

He fixed the light as requested, but he still didn't leave afterwards. Instead, he stood beside the doorway and peeked into Tang Hong's open apartment. "Hey, dumdum, this place of yours is really spick and span."

But... Tang Hong overwhelmed with a feeling that bordered on instinct had also thought: I have to protect "him."

Ah— Tang Hong realised he had been careless in that moment. Boss and "A" are in there right now! So he ran over and pushed Meng Yun aside before slamming the door shut. "What the heck are you looking at!" Did nobody teach this kid how to act polite! "And my name is Tang Hong, don't call dumdum!"

"How could it not be my business? I'm warning you, this pyjamas has a high possibility of belonging to a suspects, so tell me!"

It was the height of autumn, tall London plane trees lined the quiet side walk. Under a gentle breeze, those straight trees shed their bits of red and gold to cover the scenery lying below. They resembled butterflies. Butterflies coloured in blood that lost all their warmth, butterflies that could fly no more.

"Fei, can't we just head back early tomorrow?"

"Oh!" What's he so anxious about? Meng Yun then noticed a garbage bag sitting next to the railing. Then his gaze fell on the piece of white cloth sticking out. "What's that?" He just asked for asking sake, but Tang Hong's reply shocked him. "It's just an old nightgown I don't want any more."

At that very moment, there was also faint sounds coming from behind that closed door.

"Oh? So it belongs to the woman I saw here last time, then?" The image of the obviously pregnant he had seen there last time flashed into Meg Yun's mind... Hold on? It's Tang Hong's woman's nightgown? With a mischievous chuckle, Meng Yun then reached to pull out the gown, purely out of the intent to tease the guy before him.

So being the good person he was, following in the footsteps of Lei Feng and all that, he checked the name of the account owner: Tang Hong, once more and as he did, Meng Yun's mischievous lips curved into a smile.

"Yours?" Meng Yun asked in shock, earning Tang Hong's irate rebuttal: "No—of course not! It's someone else's! Why the heck would I be wearing a white nightie?"

What does this mean? Does it... does it meant that the child in "A's" stomach was fathered by... my uncle, Tang Sen... or by Liu Wei?

Meng Yun regretted letting the cat out the beg right then, but it was too late to take it all back.

I know that man is just as lonely, as miserable, and sad as I am too...

This month, I was getting married. Married... to He Zhi. Linking He Zhi's plump arm in his own, inhaling by the sweet fragrance emanating from her gentle and lovely form, and feeling the heat radiating through her close and loving hold... yes, my wife... my wife? Why is it so strange, though?

What does this mean? Does it... does it meant that the child in "A's" stomach was fathered by... my uncle, Tang Sen... or by Liu Wei?

As when the sun rises in the sky on one side of the world, only one side is blessed with its light.

"What are you doing!" Tang Hong's anxiety hit a peak, while is thoughts condemned that officer who seemed to have far too much time on his hand! But it was because Meng Yun had seen him so flustered that couldn't stop the urge to toy with the "not dumdum" even further. He honestly didn't think anything would come of it, and was just going to pull the pyjamas out of the bag. Oh... It's dirty nightgown... missing two torn pieces... hahaha...

The officer did say it was all just his own speculations, and that apart from the pyjamas, there existed no other proof. But deep down Tang Hong also had the feeling that perhaps... this really is the truth.

"What?" Tang Hong ceased his actions, his eyes widening as he asked in a daze, "What did you just say?"

The causes and effects of everything so far, now appeared vividly before his eyes. He guessed that "A" had absolutely escaped from somewhere place, but he just had no idea where that "some" was.

Hold on! It's a dirty nightgown—a white nightgown—missing two torn off pieces...

...It can't be—it can't be just be a coincidence... that's not possible.

"Sure."

But...

It's Tang Hong's woman's nightgown? With a mischievous chuckle, Meng Yun then reached to pull out the gown, purely out of the intent to tease the guy before him.

"Who does this nightgown belong to?" Meng Yun turned around to ask as his nerves ran high. To which Tang Hong responded, "None of your business!" before reaching out to snag the pyjamas.

They say there are countless earths and limitless sentient beings. For all those bustling masses, their short lives are nothing but a constant stream of flowing sand, like fireworks blossoming one instant only to just as quickly go out. In the snap of a finger, sixty years, birth. In the snap of the fingers, sixty years, death. And after all that's done, when enough time passes, you will be remembered by absolutely no one.

But... Tang Hong overwhelmed with a feeling that bordered on instinct had also thought: I have to protect "him."

Meng Yun regretted letting the cat out the beg right then, but it was too late to take it all back.

But now...

The causes and effects of everything so far, now appeared vividly before his eyes. He guessed that "A" had absolutely escaped from somewhere place, but he just had no idea where that "some" was.

At that very moment, there was also faint sounds coming from behind that closed door.

"She's not here!" Tang Hong blocked the door and refused to allow Meng Yun to go inside and search. He also noticed that Meng Yun had used "that woman" and "she/her" to refer that person, allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief at Meng Yun not knowing that the "she" in question was actually a man.

For Tang Hong, it would be true to say that ever since that person named "A" had entered his life, the string of incidents that had developments were more dramatic than the plot of a soup opera. Think about it! First, was the appearance of a man with both sexes, who, for some mind boggling reason, was pregnant with some other man's child, and had broken into his life. Next, was his discovery of that unnamed pregnant man actually having a relationship with his very own group leader, Yu Jiang, and it was a relationship as lovers at that! And now... now! Now, this cop was here saying... what did he say again? ...oh. He said, that this man—was a suspect in a murder case... the same case where his uncle was murdered, where an alleged "fourth suspect" had fled the scene...

I know that man is just as lonely, as miserable, and sad as I am too...

But... Tang Hong overwhelmed with a feeling that bordered on instinct had also thought: I have to protect "him."

As he was lost in thought, the bright day enveloping Tang Hong's side of the story was cut off by the gradual fall of the dark of a night.

The officer did say it was all just his own speculations, and that apart from the pyjamas, there existed no other proof. But deep down Tang Hong also had the feeling that perhaps... this really is the truth.

Just thinking back on it now, feels like it was something that happened just yesterday. Yu Jiang, Yu Jiang's father... it feels as though it was just last night that man was facing me with an awkward smile. It feels as though it was just earlier today I had called him to go out on a date. A day I continued to bully him into eating with me, to talk to me, and planning a whole host of other mundane things.

.

Tang Hong was confused... he was absolutely bewildered. How could this happen? Why is it such a mess.

"Love?" Tang Hong's heart sped up it's beating, it was never something he considered. But something like that is impossible anyway. How could I let "him" be taken to the station with such a big pregnant belly? No—it can't happen! No! No! No!

But... Tang Hong overwhelmed with a feeling that bordered on instinct had also thought: I have to protect "him."

Why am I so strange? It's already been so long, so why do I still remember it all so clearly?

"She's not here!" Tang Hong blocked the door and refused to allow Meng Yun to go inside and search. I know that man is just as lonely, as miserable, and sad as I am too...

Meng Yun stared at him, not trying to force to his way through, but there was a meaning look in his gaze. "Tang Hong, the net cast by the heavens is vast, and though it may be loose, it never truly misses. We will never allow anyone guilty to be spared, nor will we allow an innocent to be treated unjustly. Acting as a shied is pointless, as it only causes harm not just to that person, but also to you, yourself. So if you love her, you should convince her to turn herself in. If she really is innocent, then we will not treat her wrongly."

.

As for that man, one would also be correct in guess for his identity as well. At her words, that man turned to reveal his own features, a pair of elegant brows that framed an impressively handsome face. Who else could he have been? It was of curse that long lost Meng Fei!

.

It's so lonely.

Luckily, Meng Yun no longer persisted, and simply took the nightgown and left. But knowing that man was never going to give up, Tang Hong still stood guarding the door, while trying to come up with countermeasures.

Only a few pedestrians traversed the streets below, and only one couple of a man and woman huddled together, walking slow.

Why am I so strange? It's already been so long, so why do I still remember it all so clearly?

What do I do?

Do I ask the group leader to take him away right now? But... then that Meng Yun guy will keep pestering me all day until I cough up "A's" location.

College, freshman year. I still remember that summer the scent of those sophora blossoms filling the air that beckoned a young freshman's restless and imaginative mind. I still remember that first day of the the very first term where I walked through the crowd and went down that long hallway. After I had send my father's subordinates away, I sat alone on that bed, and nothing but loneliness overcame me. I still remember that night, later that night when a man's anxious voice sounded from beyond that dorm's door, asking for me to open it politely, because they had forgotten to collect their key. I remember the events even down in that night as well clearly, where I witnessed the absurd incestuous affair between father and son. The acts of their carnal desires splayed out before me. Acts that kindled my own lust, that had me holding that very man by his wrists while I embraced him. I shamelessly forced that man to solve the desire he aroused in me. And after that, there was still a lot more to come, little by little, drop by drop...

As when the sun rises in the sky on one side of the world, only one side is blessed with its light.

Why is that? He was just a man with a remarkable body and nothing more... What about him was it that drew me to him so profoundly... perhaps it was because I seemed to possess the same kind of loneliness as him? The kind that cycles through this ever turning world of mortals, that cannot be voiced, cannot be explained, cannot be controlled, nor can it be eliminated.

The woman asked while snuggling close to the man beside her, he face upturning as she spoke. Even with the years that had passed in this mortal world, one would be able to recognised that slender and delicate nose coupled with those flushed rosy cheeks. Yes, it as her, the girl who had once went along with Meng Fei back then, to his aunt's and uncle to eat. It was that girl... young woman, it was He Zhi.

So lonely, so lonely, so lonely, so damn lonely...

"Sure."

iana: Meng Fei is here! Tang Hong is precious♥ Look at him trying to protect his papa he doesn't know is his papa and kinda has the hots for... (I didn't need to add this part, but my brain went there and you should suffer too.)
