"No matter how thick a sheet of paper is made, it turns out even it will have a day the sun burns through."

"That's um... That's because um... because..."

"That's um..."

Seeing how hard it was for Fritz to speak, Karl knew he was speaking of that time he was repeatedly gαng-rαρed in the alley.

Sighing lightly, "Fritz" sat himself up. Despite how difficult it was to move, he still kept his back straight.

Sighing lightly, "Fritz" sat himself up. Despite how difficult it was to move, he still kept his back straight.

"Second Young Master and Young Master Karl? The Young Master has said the two of you can leave."

"The key of under the vase."

"How can that be!" Fritz was astonished. "Why would Sett do such a thing?"

Karl shouted in agitation, causing Fritz to hurriedly cover his mouth before darting his eyes about in a panic. "Be careful! Someone outside might notice."

When Sett's gaze collided with his, the speed at which they shifted away was unnatural.

"Karl? You... How are you... How did you know I was here?"

"Who are you? Who the hell are you? Where have you hidden Fritz?"

"That's.."

"Fritz!"

"Quit showing off!" Fritz knocked Karl on the head in displeasure. "It's not how it is at all! It's—forget it! Just forget it even if it ls like that, alright!"

With his eyes fixed on that man who looked like Fritz, struggling, Karl asked.

"The one who invited the Morson's and you wasn't me, it was Sett. He wanted to see you, so he invited the Morson family to the ball. I... I wanted to see you too, naturally, very much so. But back then I still had no intention of involving you in all this."

Karl intuitively felt it now, I'm not wrong, Fritz is hiding something!

"I'm sorry, Karl. Ever since he was little, Sett has always been wilful and stubborn, so once he sets his mind on on something it's useless for me to oppose him. I can't disobey him." The expression Frit wore was one f helplessness as he continued, "...besides, I owe him too much, so there's no way I can refuse him when he asks me."

"Was it you or Sett that he wanted to lay his hands on?" Karl's heart at that moment was beating in his throat.

"No! I want to know why you did this!"

"No! I want to know why you did this!"

Sighing lightly, "Fritz" sat himself up. Despite how difficult it was to move, he still kept his back straight.

That kind of feeling... one where you're suddenly ripped from being immersed in pure concentrated sweetness only to be doused in repeated splashes of water that freezing cold. This person who he has been so close to physically and deeply attracted to was not Fritz!

"But... it's... it's a secret Sett and I agreed to never let any outsider know."

"Is your IQ really that low? Can you really not guess who I am?"

"You really did team up with him to deceive me! Fritz, how could you this?"

Even the last traces of gentleness were now purged, and that "Fritz's" arrogant eyes was now filled with coldness.

"Was the man who took you from the church Sett?"

"Are you Fritz's brother?"

"His older brother. Sett."

"Are you Fritz's brother?"

"That's.."

"His older brother. Sett."

"Is your IQ really that low? Can you really not guess who I am?"

Sett remained silent.

"He wanted to attack you both? That dirty old lecher is too damn loathsome!"

"Our father never listened to everyone who said we with our deformed bodies should be burned to death. Maybe there was some semblance of affection in his vile heart! But later, after we grew up, none expected his promiscuous nature would return again, and for that evil to even be extended to his own sons..."

Karl held on to Fritz's shoulders, the pleading visible in his eyes. That feeling... feeling as though he couldn't be trusted, made him quite sad. The strength of the sorrow and dissatisfaction those words Karl spoke held within them, made Fritz's expression tremble.

"He wanted to attack you both? That dirty old lecher is too damn loathsome!"

"Why would he not do such a thing?" Annoyed at the timid and unease Fritz expressed when he mentioned Sett, Karl continued, "He tricked us for so long and now his scams have all been exposed. What else could he do?"

As he lazily reached to grab his pyjamas and covered his naked body, Sett issued his frosty reply.

"What do you mean you owe him?"

Gently closing the door, for a reason beyond his understanding, Karl felt a slew of varied emotions within his chest.

"Wait, did you... agree to this impersonation scam of his?" Karl couldn't bring himself to believe such a thing was possible, but Fritz actually nodded quite guiltily.

"Fritz!"

"..."

"Just let it go! If you want to go your precious Fritz, just go find him. He's in the room at the end of the corridor on the first floor."

With his eyes fixed on that man who looked like Fritz, struggling, Karl asked.

"He wanted to attack you both? That dirty old lecher is too damn loathsome!"

"Is it that you hate Fritz?"

"No! I want to know why you did this!"

"No, not a all. You two are not the same, there can be no comparison."

Karl playfully took hold of Fritz's shoulder while the owner of said shoulder's face flushed red.

"But... it's... it's a secret Sett and I agreed to never let any outsider know."

Staring at Sett who was dressing into his pyjama while wearing no discernable expression on his face, Karl was shocked to find his heart was suddenly overcome with those same faint struggled feelings, as he watched Sett move with difficulty through his light trembles.

"Why does knowing the truth matter? You want to find Fritz, and did I not already tell you where he is? Do you not want to go?"

A bitter laugh left Fritz at his question. "Karl, you really are too innocent, so there's no way you can properly consider just how sinister people in this world can be."

"In the end you still involved me! Is it because you missed me too much? Did you feel you can't go on without me? Did you ask Sett to invite the Morson's and me here?"

Though the man appeared thinner, it was indeed the Fritz he remembered, there was no mistaking it.

"Fritz!"

"You still haven't told me the truth. Why were you lying to me?"

"In the end you still involved me! Is it because you missed me too much? Did you feel you can't go on without me? Did you ask Sett to invite the Morson's and me here?"

"He wanted to attack you both? That dirty old lecher is too damn loathsome!"

Sett cut Karl off abrasively, pulling the covers over his head as he threw out the vague sentence that followed.

In his shock he rushed over to hold the youth in his arms, his nerves unsettled as he again asked, "H-how... how did you—how did you know I was here? Does Sett know you came here to find me?"

"..."

Sett remained silent.

Sighing lightly, "Fritz" sat himself up. Despite how difficult it was to move, he still kept his back straight.

"Why would you do that? Since Sett was already trapped, you shouldn't decide to walk right into the trap yourself. Between you two, one should be on the outside and one on the inside, that way you'll be able to get rid of the old bastard, right? It was the kind of situation where you had to escape from all the more, that way you can find a way to fight back!"

"What?"

Sett remained silent.

"What nonsense are you spouting—" Sett raised his head angrily, the arrogance once filling his gaze instantly gone. In a standoffish manner, he then turned his head away and spat: "You can think whatever you damn well please, just leave. Did you hear me, I said get out! Take Fritz and leave."

"Who are you? Who the hell are you? Where have you hidden Fritz?"

iana: Sett's name is 沙特: Shā-tè, it shares the same final character in common with Fritz's (非特: Fei-tè). Unfortunately, Sett's name in it's original form bears an unfortunate similarity to an English word that causes your dear translator to erupt in giggles while she reads the original to translate, so Sett he will be. I was also thinking Svetz to keep the similarity with Fritz more obvious (plus it's a surname that does exist in the region) but when in doubt: K-I-S-S.

" — " Karl was somewhat confused.

Karl sensed there was still Fritz wanted to say but he say but he hesitated, so with suspicion, Karl then asked, "Fritz?"

"He wanted to attack you both? That dirty old lecher is too damn loathsome!"

When Sett's gaze collided with his, the speed at which they shifted away was unnatural.

"No! I want to know why you did this!"

"Don't worry, I will keep my promise. You will continue to receive my support to make you into a mafia king."

"Quit showing off!" Fritz knocked Karl on the head in displeasure. "It's not how it is at all! It's—forget it! Just forget it even if it ls like that, alright!"

"It's nothing." Hesitant, Fritz turned his gaze away.

"Karl, it's just... you just don't understand. When two people are born together, because we're so closely connected, there are signals and emotions that get transmitted. Sett and I are identical twins. That wicked father of ours, probably because he committed far to many atrocious acts, despite the number of women he possessed, non had ever bore him any sons. The girl who gave birth to Sett and me, came from an especially poor family. And that girl—the mother who died giving birth to us—was kidnapped by our father while she was being married to the person she loved to be made into his lover. She was forced to watch as helplessly as her newly married husband was executed in the garden. She cursed during her pregnancy, and cursed again during our birth. It was even said that when she died he was already driven completely mad. So when we born, everyone said it was an act of retribution against our father."

"That night I was so scared I didn't know what to do. In the end, it was Sett who thought on his feet and dealt with our father himself, allowing me the chance to escape. He said he would contact me the next day along with telling me to go stay at Morson's place and avoid going to school. But I waited at Morson's for half a year, yet there was never any sign of Sett. Afterwards, I came to know this was because he was imprisoned our father for covering me in my escape. Sometime later, when out=r father went out on an inspection trip, I got the chance to sneak into the governor's mansion, planning to convince him to escape with me. But I never in a million years expected our father's constant assaults would result in Sett's pregnancy.... When I saw Sett, who was so exhausted in both mind and body to the point where he resembled neither a man or a ghost my heart shattered. It broke enough for me to impulsively declare I would stay with him right here to help him deal with our father. I was so sorry. We are identical twins, we shared the same blood, the same deformity, so it was only fair we should endure the pain together, instead of having all the responsibility for those evil acts solely resting on Setts shoulders."

"You don't need to say anything further because I have no intention of providing you with any explanations! ...right now, the only thing you need to do is leave. And shut the door after you do."

Karl rose, but right as he intended to take Fritz by the shoulders and compel him to tell the truth, an aged voice suddenly sounded from outside the door, saying:

The key's metallic lustre shone in the dense light delivered from the corridor, as if the dark worn copper was imbued with the remnants of ancient tales to be told.

"Fritz, why won't you trust me?" Dejectedly, Karl's hands released Fritz's shoulders, a feeling of utter powerlessness overtaking him. "Could it be, that the place I hold in your heart can in no way ever match Sett's?"

"Fritz!"

"Sett is the one who told me to come."

"No! I want to know why you did this!"

Pulling open the door, sure enough, there was a shocked Fritz standing inside.

She was forced to watch as helplessly as her newly married husband was executed in the garden. She cursed during her pregnancy, and cursed again during our birth. It was even said that when she died he was already driven completely mad. So when we born, everyone said it was an act of retribution against our father."

That kind of feeling... one where you're suddenly ripped from being immersed in pure concentrated sweetness only to be doused in repeated splashes of water that freezing cold. This person who he has been so close to physically and deeply attracted to was not Fritz!

"Fritz!"

"..."

"..."

"Fritz, why won't you trust me?" Dejectedly, Karl's hands released Fritz's shoulders, a feeling of utter powerlessness overtaking him. "Could it be, that the place I hold in your heart can in no way ever match Sett's?"

iana: Sett's name is 沙特: Shā-tè, it shares the same final character in common with Fritz's (非特: Fei-tè).

As he lazily reached to grab his pyjamas and covered his naked body, Sett issued his frosty reply.

"..."

Pulling open the door, sure enough, there was a shocked Fritz standing inside.

"You can leave now."

Fritz stared at Karl in amazement, while continuing to speak. "Afterwards, he and I agreed, for a period of five years, I would develop a type of poison that would kill a person without any traces then come back to find him so we can send our father to hell in a handbasket and finally be free. In order to hide from the eyes and ears our father sent out, I hid myself in the poorest slum, one no one would ever think to look in. There, I deliberately married the ugliest and shrewdest woman living there. I regularly met up with people Sett sent to exchange information. But I failed to live up to his expectations, spending over a decade before I could successfully develop the poison. Seeing Sett having to continually and painfully endure our fathers repeated assault for so many years... for him to again and again give birth to that man's children, my heart truly and irrevocably was torn apart. Fortunately, the poison was finally manufactured successfully, and that day I went into the city those months back, was actually so I could inform Sett's people. On the way, I stopped by Morson's to ask him to take you to his house when the right time came. Neither Sett nor I wanted you to be dragged into this. But who would've thought that day I returned from the city I would be in such a rush I'd forget my disguise, and that incident would happen..."

"..."

"Was the man who took you from the church Sett?"

"..."

Karl sensed there was still Fritz wanted to say but he say but he hesitated, so with suspicion, Karl then asked, "Fritz?"

"Was it you or Sett that he wanted to lay his hands on?" Karl's heart at that moment was beating in his throat.

As he lazily reached to grab his pyjamas and covered his naked body, Sett issued his frosty reply.

When Sett's gaze collided with his, the speed at which they shifted away was unnatural.

"Was it because you told him you love me? And because of that, wanted to see his brother-in-law/nephew?"

"Who are you? Who the hell are you? Where have you hidden Fritz?"

A bitter laugh left Fritz at his question. "Karl, you really are too innocent, so there's no way you can properly consider just how sinister people in this world can be."

"It's nothing." Hesitant, Fritz turned his gaze away.

"Was it because you told him you love me? And because of that, wanted to see his brother-in-law/nephew?"

With his eyes fixed on that man who looked like Fritz, struggling, Karl asked.

"Just let it go! If you want to go your precious Fritz, just go find him. He's in the room at the end of the corridor on the first floor."

"Sett, I—"

Karl rose, but right as he intended to take Fritz by the shoulders and compel him to tell the truth, an aged voice suddenly sounded from outside the door, saying:

Sighing lightly, "Fritz" sat himself up. Despite how difficult it was to move, he still kept his back straight.

"He wanted to attack you both? That dirty old lecher is too damn loathsome!"

Staring at Sett who was dressing into his pyjama while wearing no discernable expression on his face, Karl was shocked to find his heart was suddenly overcome with those same faint struggled feelings, as he watched Sett move with difficulty through his light trembles.

Karl playfully took hold of Fritz's shoulder while the owner of said shoulder's face flushed red.

"What do you mean you owe him?"

"Why would Sett want to see me?"

iana: Sett's name is 沙特: Shā-tè, it shares the same final character in common with Fritz's (非特: Fei-tè).

SEVENTH CHAPTER

"Oh... Sett said as much back then too."

"What?"

Fritz stared at Karl in amazement, while continuing to speak. "Outsider? Do you see me as nothing but an outsider now, Fritz?!"

"Second Young Master and Young Master Karl? The Young Master has said the two of you can leave."

Fritz stared at Karl in amazement, while continuing to speak. "Afterwards, he and I agreed, for a period of five years, I would develop a type of poison that would kill a person without any traces then come back to find him so we can send our father to hell in a handbasket and finally be free. "Sett... I..."

Seeing how hard it was for Fritz to speak, Karl knew he was speaking of that time he was repeatedly gαng-rαρed in the alley.

"No, not a all. You two are not the same, there can be no comparison."

"Don't worry, I will keep my promise. You will continue to receive my support to make you into a mafia king."

When Sett's gaze collided with his, the speed at which they shifted away was unnatural.

"Why would he not do such a thing?" Annoyed at the timid and unease Fritz expressed when he mentioned Sett, Karl continued, "He tricked us for so long and now his scams have all been exposed. What else could he do?"

"Was the man who took you from the church Sett?"

"Is it that you hate Fritz?"

"He wanted to attack you both? That dirty old lecher is too damn loathsome!"

"I told you to spewing nonsense!"

That kind of feeling... one where you're suddenly ripped from being immersed in pure concentrated sweetness only to be doused in repeated splashes of water that freezing cold. This person who he has been so close to physically and deeply attracted to was not Fritz!

"How can that be!" Fritz was astonished. "Why would Sett do such a thing?"

"No, he wasn't. He was someone sent by Sett." Fritz corrected, while an apologetic look found its way onto to his face. "I'm sorry I left without saying goodbye, but at that time I had no intention of ever letting you know about any of this, or involving you in any way."

"Fritz!"

"In the end you still involved me! Is it because you missed me too much? Did you feel you can't go on without me? Did you ask Sett to invite the Morson's and me here?"

"Was it because you told him you love me? And because of that, wanted to see his brother-in-law/nephew?"

"Sett is the one who told me to come."

"The one who invited the Morson's and you wasn't me, it was Sett. He wanted to see you, so he invited the Morson family to the ball. I... I wanted to see you too, naturally, very much so. But back then I still had no intention of involving you in all this."

Karl sensed there was still Fritz wanted to say but he say but he hesitated, so with suspicion, Karl then asked, "Fritz?"

"No! I want to know why you did this!"

"But... it's... it's a secret Sett and I agreed to never let any outsider know."

"What?"

Karl playfully took hold of Fritz's shoulder while the owner of said shoulder's face flushed red.

"Sett, I—"

"Is your IQ really that low? Can you really not guess who I am?"

"What the hell s going on, Fritz? I'm begging you, just tell me the truth! Am I really that untrustworthy, Fritz? Did you forget us promising to be together our entire lives?"

With his eyes fixed on that man who looked like Fritz, struggling, Karl asked.

"The key to open Fritz's room! God, you're so stupid! You're so damn stupid it hurts!"

Staring at Sett who was dressing into his pyjama while wearing no discernable expression on his face, Karl was shocked to find his heart was suddenly overcome with those same faint struggled feelings, as he watched Sett move with difficulty through his light trembles.

"You can leave now."

"His older brother. Sett."

The flush painting Fritz's face growing deeper made Karl's heart explode with pure joy. "Is that how it is, Fritz?"

"You don't need to say anything further because I have no intention of providing you with any explanations! ...right now, the only thing you need to do is leave. And shut the door after you do."

"Quit showing off!" Fritz knocked Karl on the head in displeasure. "It's not how it is at all! It's—forget it! Just forget it even if it ls like that, alright!"

As he lazily reached to grab his pyjamas and covered his naked body, Sett issued his frosty reply.

Karl intuitively felt it now, I'm not wrong, Fritz is hiding something!

In his shock he rushed over to hold the youth in his arms, his nerves unsettled as he again asked, "H-how... how did you—how did you know I was here? Does Sett know you came here to find me?"

Fritz suddenly found his breaths caught in a hitch.
