The person who reported the incident at the Liu's restaurant was a nearby resident. He was a regular customer at the Liu's place and seeing it closed for a week and no sign of the owners gave him a bad feeling, so on the day of his report, he had walked up to the doors only to realise they were actually unlocked!

Meng Fei? I wonder what kind of guy this Meng Fei is? Tang Hong had no real interest in Meng Fei, he just wanted to rid himself of this God of Plagues that instant. If his group leader came back and ran into that cop, he would most assuredly meet a tragic end. Fortunately, that plague god knew how to act in a delicate situation, so after saying his peace, he left of his own will. "See you next time. I'll come back again sometime to trouble you."

He stood there until Yu Jiang bellowed: "Alright, that's enough! Go bring out the food already!"

But what was more terrifying than anything, was that bowl of soup showing signs it had been lessened, that is to say—someone had eaten that soup! Someone had consumed that man's flesh!

He thought the door was locked and ended up accidentally pushing it open, he had no idea it would unlocked.

"Is that really what happened, though? If so, did Liu Wei really need to imprison Tang Sen in that basement for several years? Why didn't he just kill that guy and his wife from the get go?"

If there was someone at home, would they leave the door unsecured all day and night?

iana: tiny note: the "your" Meng Yun said with emphasis in "I won't take up any more of 'your' time" was the plural form as he was referring to Tang Hong and his "mysteriously lady friend". []So Liu Wei cooked Tang Sen, damn.

Liu Wei was an owner celebrated for his experience and prudence, so by no stretch of the imagination was he a careless person, let alone him being so careless to such a ridiculous degree!

Another factor that could not be explained were the dirty sheets in the bathroom. The fluids on those sheets were left behind from sexual activity, this was for certain. But... which two were engaged in such activities? This was the part where everyone from the unit had their own guesses. Was it Liu Wei and Tang Sen? Liu Wei and Mrs. Liu? Tang Sen and Mrs. Liu? Considering the outcome of a crime like this, the third option was indeed the most plausible. Yet Meng Yun still could not help but feel something was still off with this hypothesis, and he couldn't shake it.

"Oh, yeah. That's true." Tang Hong glanced at Meng Yun while thinking that guy is precisely that kind of person! He then grumbled at the officer, "Since you already confirmed all that, why the heck did you come over here to see me?"

The only people involved in this case were Liu Wei, Tang Sen, and Mrs. Liu. Wa there really no other person involved?

Already feeling that something was not right since he got there, tremblingly, that neighbour entered the Liu's home and soon realised—there was not a soul inside. He called out many times but not once did anyone reply. This made him grow all the more uneasy, so he called over some of the other neighbours and they went in to search together. Whether it was the dining room, the kitchen, the bedroom, or the study, everything was clean and neat with no mess in sight. But there was also no signs of both the husband and the wife.

The bed sheets were sent to the forensic examiner for testing but the resiults was yet to be released.

After the neighbour responsible for searching the yard found an underground passage, afraid of going in there alone, they called everyone to go check there together and that was how the secret underground room of the Liu's was discovered—along with the signs that someone was kept in that dark place for a very long time.

Perplexed, Meng Yun replied, "The reason for that is unclear, but from the perspective of someone with such an abnormal way of thinking it's not something beyond the realm of possibilities. Some people quite enjoy torturing someone they abhor and are rather unwilling to give them just one swift deathblow. They prefer torturing their victim before killing them, no different than a cat toying with a mouse. So that is also a possibility."

The police has obviously established it was a vicious homicide with dismemberment. After the investigation team conducted their examination of the crime scene, collected evidence and engaged in heated discussions, their preliminary report concluded the following:

He thought the door was locked and ended up accidentally pushing it open, he had no idea it would unlocked.

On the floor were used tissues scattered about.

On the nightstand were pieces of peeled apple slices that had begun to rot.

Attaboy, kid. Meng Yun chuckled to himself as he thought: Looks like this Tang guy isn't half bad. Even a thick-headed guy like him can get a girl who's willing to be with him and it's clear as day he made her stomach swell that big...

Beside the bed was a large pool of blood.

.

"You?"

The police has obviously established it was a vicious homicide with dismemberment. After the investigation team conducted their examination of the crime scene, collected evidence and engaged in heated discussions, their preliminary report concluded the following:

And in the bathroom were sheets soiled in blood and love stains that had yet to be cleaned.

"You?"

All these things mixed with that house being empty had long gave every neighbour there a chilling feeling they could not shake. But what really sealed their faith in this being the scene of a horrific murder was the female neighbour who accidentally pulled open the refrigerator door!

Meng Yun disclosed this hunch of his to no one, doing so because investigators are supposed to rely on facts and evidence to conclude cases and not blindly chase after subjective feelings which should be avoided at all costs. But Meng Yun trusted his intuition, genuinely believing it held some truth.

N/A

Another factor that could not be explained were the dirty sheets in the bathroom. The fluids on those sheets were left behind from sexual activity, this was for certain. But... which two were engaged in such activities? This was the part where everyone from the unit had their own guesses. Was it Liu Wei and Tang Sen? Liu Wei and Mrs. Liu? Tang Sen and Mrs. Liu? Considering the outcome of a crime like this, the third option was indeed the most plausible. Yet Meng Yun still could not help but feel something was still off with this hypothesis, and he couldn't shake it.

After a blood curdling scream, the poor woman fainted.

Meng Yun chuckled, before replying, "Because this is only the preliminary assertion of a motive, so I thought of tracking you down to confirm. So I'd like to ask you if there were any signs of a relationship between your uncle and Liu Wei's wife while you were in contact with him?"

Resulting in Tang Hong turning to leave for the kitchen pitifully. Boss, you're really too much. Tang Hong wanted to shed tears. I was the one who saved "A", so why can't he treat me a bit better, huh...

"B-Boss... H-he's the one who t-tracked me down and forced his way in—it's not my fault..."

Sitting on a shelf inside that fridge was the pale, severed head of a man standing upright; its handsome face was pointed at all the stunned faces in that room, and seemed as though it was watching them all while wearing cruel smile.

Meng Yun cut straight to the point. When the investigators returned from the Liu's place and gave them information no one every imagined, he ran straight over to hear Tang Hong's thoughts on the matter without thinking.

The police has obviously established it was a vicious homicide with dismemberment. After the investigation team conducted their examination of the crime scene, collected evidence and engaged in heated discussions, their preliminary report concluded the following:

The stupefied crowd then lowered their gazes to lower shelves of the refrigerator and saw the dismembered torso, arms, legs stuffed into the the small appliance; and that there was even a missing thigh. A thigh that was clearly the source of the meat lying at the bottom of a bowl of soup.

However, upon returning to the restaurant run by the Liu's, an officer had made an important discovery this very day!

But what was more terrifying than anything, was that bowl of soup showing signs it had been lessened, that is to say—someone had eaten that soup! Someone had consumed that man's flesh!

Beside the bed was a large pool of blood.

Just then, Yu Jiang was making his way up the steps. Seeing Tang Hong with Meng Yun had also caught him a bit off guard and resulted in an unreadable expression immediately finding its way on his face, while his eyes ruthlessly glued themselves onto Tang Hong.

Stab! An unknown number of figurative arrows stabbed Tang Hong directly into his heart, and such a tongue lashing had dealt him such a hard blow, all he could do was stand there quietly while his face paled in fright.

The police swiftly arrived to investigate the scene, and the detective placed in charge of that case was Meng Yun.

You jerk bastard! Tang Hong left his curses unvoiced but pulled open the door to urge his guest out, however, Meng Yun just stood in place. "Hey, do you know why I want to get to the bottom of this case so much? Because, just like you, I'm connected to it."

Abandoning his attempt to close the door, Tang Hong rushed to push "A" onto his bed then spreading a blanket to cover both the older man's head and feet before turning to Meng Yun and asking with a snare, "What business do you have here, plague god?"

Well, no wonder you make people feel so uncomfortable... I dare say you got that murderer blood running through you, huh! Tang Hong sneered to himself, while listening to Meng Yun continue: "I don't actually have a solid relation to Liu Wei, it's mainly my cousin, Meng Fei, who has does, since he's Liu Wei's nephew by marriage."

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

The only people involved in this case were Liu Wei, Tang Sen, and Mrs. Liu. Wa there really no other person involved?

The owner of the house, Liu Wei, imprisoned Tang Sen for certain reasons. Then after killing him, Liu Wei and his wife fled the scene.

.

This conclusion should to be the most rational one given the majority of facts about the case, and the investigation team all agreed. Only one thing remained unclear: what motive did Liu Wei have for savagely murdering Tang Sen? It was the reason why Meng Yun repeatedly questioned Tang Sen's nephew, but that rough looking youth couldn't think of a reason no matter how hard he had tried, and that left Meng Yun rather disappointed.

But what was more terrifying than anything, was that bowl of soup showing signs it had been lessened, that is to say—someone had eaten that soup! Someone had consumed that man's flesh!

"Are you the killer?" Tang Hong asked with a sneer, but Meng Yun didn't so much as bat an eye in anger, his words gentle as he responded, "No. It's the main suspect, Liu Wei, that guy is actually a distant relative of mine."

"Relax, I didn't myself all the way here to bother you for no good reason. I came here because I need to ask you something."

What's more, deep down, Meng Yun still had some doubts. He also went to the scene to gather evidence, and while he stood in that damp, dark, yet lavishly decorated underground room, he could not shake the increasingly uneasy feeling that overcame him. Was it really Tang Sen who was held captive in this basement for a long time? Given the cruel method which was used to kill and dismember Tang Sen's body, it can can be determined that Liu Wei (seeing how preliminary assumptions point to him being the culprit) harbours strong feelings of hate towards his victim, Tang Sen. It's hard to imagine that a person would imprison someone they viewed as enemy in such a large room where careful thought was put into it's lavishly comfortable decor. It went against all forms of basic common sense.

After a blood curdling scream, the poor woman fainted.

Considering the outcome of a crime like this, the third option was indeed the most plausible. Yet Meng Yun still could not help but feel something was still off with this hypothesis, and he couldn't shake it.

Meng Yun took a look at that tall and devilishly handsome man, also feeling a bit surprised by his presence. But he only gave Yu Jiang a nod in passing before making his own way down the stairs.

Resulting in Tang Hong turning to leave for the kitchen pitifully. Boss, you're really too much. Tang Hong wanted to shed tears. I was the one who saved "A", so why can't he treat me a bit better, huh...

After shutting the door, Tang Hong tried explaining to his group leader with a stutter, but Yu Jiang did not get angry at his subordinate, and simply stared at the other man impatiently. "I've known from the start you were useless, so there's no need for you to try explaining away you foolishness. All I'm wondering is why the heavens didn't chop off your head instead of your uncle's? I wouldn't mind it if the fools got taken out first."

But as he stood in that basement, looking around, Meng Yun had a strange vision, a vision where amongst those three persons was an unknown fourth, one releasing faint, pained breaths...

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Meng Yun disclosed this hunch of his to no one, doing so because investigators are supposed to rely on facts and evidence to conclude cases and not blindly chase after subjective feelings which should be avoided at all costs. But Meng Yun trusted his intuition, genuinely believing it held some truth.

Seeing Meng Yun didn't say anything in return and kept staring at the person under the blankets behind him, Tang Hong grew a bit worried. A is a man, but he's a pregnant man, and this is something I could never—ever—let other people find out! Especially that plague god of a cop that I really can't help but despise. Look at him smirking like that, really pisses me off. I hate it more that I do the boss'... oh my gosh! No-no, that's not right! I don't hate the boss. How could I even dare think of hating our little demon king like boss!

After shutting the door, Tang Hong tried explaining to his group leader with a stutter, but Yu Jiang did not get angry at his subordinate, and simply stared at the other man impatiently. "How the heck would I know! Didn't I already tell you I have next to no contact with the bastard!"

The bed sheets were sent to the forensic examiner for testing but the resiults was yet to be released.

As the two passed each other, Tang Hong noticed his group leader's frigid eyes, eyes that scrutinised the young officer walking by him.

However, upon returning to the restaurant run by the Liu's, an officer had made an important discovery this very day!

.

With how obvious Tang Hong's actions were they had no way of deceiving Meng Yun's sharp gaze, so with his lips curved into a playful grin, he stared at the form of the person covered up in the bed behind Tang Hong. That kid surnamed Tang blocked him so he couldn't get a proper look at that beauty who had to be hidden but their silhouette, even from under the covers, allowed for the roundness of their stomach to easily be discerned.

"You?"

"Relax, I didn't myself all the way here to bother you for no good reason. I came here because I need to ask you something."

Plague god! Tang Hong couldn't so much as give that guy a welcoming face and was just about to slam the door shut but Meng Yun forced his way in. At first, Tang Hong wanted to shove Meng Yun back out the door, but he noticed the officer's eyes scanning inside the room and immediately took notice of something more important!

The police has obviously established it was a vicious homicide with dismemberment. After the investigation team conducted their examination of the crime scene, collected evidence and engaged in heated discussions, their preliminary report concluded the following:

"Hey! What do you think you're looking at, you sneak!"

Meng Yun showed no indication he was in a rush, still smiling as before as he added, "Take your time and think it over then, I believe you will surely be of assistance to us during this investigation. If you think of something, please don't hesitate to let me know. My number is 120-584-1214. That's all for now, I won't take up any more of 'your' time." As he said the word "your", his eyes narrowed mischievously, his lips again curling upwards in that devilish smile.

"Huh!" Tang Hong's jaw dropped in shock, and Meng Yun seeing his shocked expression stressed hos words as he continued, "That's right. The female corpse was confirmed by the Liu's neighbours to be that of Liu Wei's wife. This caused a major turnaround in the development of this case. Originally, we concluded it was crime fuelled by hate, but we couldn't quite pin down a proper motive. But now, it's highly possible this was a crime of passion, and that upon discovering Tang Sen and his wife were having an affair, Liu Wei dealt them both a vicious blow."

If there was someone at home, would they leave the door unsecured all day and night?

"Is that really what happened, though? If so, did Liu Wei really need to imprison Tang Sen in that basement for several years? Why didn't he just kill that guy and his wife from the get go?"

"Relax, I didn't myself all the way here to bother you for no good reason. I came here because I need to ask you something."

Meng Yun took a look at that tall and devilishly handsome man, also feeling a bit surprised by his presence. But he only gave Yu Jiang a nod in passing before making his own way down the stairs.

But as he stood in that basement, looking around, Meng Yun had a strange vision, a vision where amongst those three persons was an unknown fourth, one releasing faint, pained breaths...

As the two passed each other, Tang Hong noticed his group leader's frigid eyes, eyes that scrutinised the young officer walking by him.

Stab! An unknown number of figurative arrows stabbed Tang Hong directly into his heart, and such a tongue lashing had dealt him such a hard blow, all he could do was stand there quietly while his face paled in fright.

"B-Boss... H-he's the one who t-tracked me down and forced his way in—it's not my fault..."

The person who reported the incident at the Liu's restaurant was a nearby resident. He was a regular customer at the Liu's place and seeing it closed for a week and no sign of the owners gave him a bad feeling, so on the day of his report, he had walked up to the doors only to realise they were actually unlocked!

He stood there until Yu Jiang bellowed: "Alright, that's enough! Go bring out the food already!"

"Relax, I didn't myself all the way here to bother you for no good reason. I came here because I need to ask you something."

Resulting in Tang Hong turning to leave for the kitchen pitifully. Boss, you're really too much. Tang Hong wanted to shed tears. I was the one who saved "A", so why can't he treat me a bit better, huh...

Sitting on a shelf inside that fridge was the pale, severed head of a man standing upright; its handsome face was pointed at all the stunned faces in that room, and seemed as though it was watching them all while wearing cruel smile.

When Tang Hong thought this, only then did he realise he still had no idea what A's real name was! But A refused to tell him, and he did not dare go ask his group leader such a question...

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Notes:

iana: tiny note: the "your" Meng Yun said with emphasis in "I won't take up any more of 'your' time" was the plural form as he was referring to Tang Hong and his "mysteriously lady friend".

So... Liu Wei cooked Tang Sen, damn.
