Meng Yun had no idea what was going on, so he was stunned when he saw Yu Jiang suddenly appear in his house—and even more taken aback when he saw him carrying a person! That person was wrapped snugly in a thick blanket, but from the curves of their body, it was easy to tell it was a man.

Meng Yun then pouted. “Oh my god! Don’t tell me you made her belly swell, then kicked her to the curb?! But seriously, what’s with the act? I saw that woman at your place last year, and it’s been six months since then. So did she give birth to a daughter or a son? It’s not a big deal to admit it. There’s no need for you to be all embarrassed. It’s normal these days to be an unwed dad after all—”

A woman’s body could never be that slender and hard. As a homicide detective, Meng Yun had been exposed to bodies of all types for a long time, so his observation skills when it came to people were almost without flaw.

“Oh... Oh—” Meng Yun mumbled, trying to find something to say, but in the end, he came up short. At that moment, his mind had both understood with clarity yet was still confused. But, at the same instance, some pieces suddenly flashed within his mind. It was vague, and he couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but he got the feeling there was something about this that had a connection to something else. The connection was there; it was so close... but he couldn’t, for the life of him, figure out what that damnable link was.

“...gas?” Yu Yanzhang was shocked for a moment. This was a matter taken care of by Tang Hong, so he had no idea if the one in the apartment was all used up. Did Tang Hong call someone to send this over? He then moved aside to allow the gas man to go in, despite the doubts rising inside him.

“Can you stop blabbering on with your nonsense already?!” Tang Hong’s face was as red as a cooked shrimp as he yelled out in a panic, “That woman’s wasn’t mine, alright! No—he wasn’t even a woman! Oh—”

But what the heck is going on here? This guy... Meng Yun stared at Yu Jiang, astounded. Last time I saw him, he was carrying his pregnant wife to the hospital, but now he’s here, getting mixed up with a man?

But then Yu Jiang was greeted with the panicked voice of his assistant saying, “Sir, you can’t enter here without permission!” in a panic, followed by a familiar voice saying cheerily, “Little Brother Yu, you don’t have much of a brother spirit, do you? No matter what, we spent four years at university together, you know.”

“...he loves me.”

In my final days, I will savour those feelings of regret, pain, and despair, allowing these bloodless blades to slice into my heart inch by inch until I quietly enter death’s embrace. Then, as I die, the one in my thoughts will be the only person I ever loved in this life.

“Hey...” Yu Jiang called out, glaring at him, and only then did Meng Yun realise he was in the way. Meng Yun stepped aside, but was enraptured by the urge to stare at the person being carried in Yu Jiang’s arms. He remained like that until a light bump against his shoulder—it was his cousin, Meng Fei. He walked over to his cousin with restrained steps, who was staring at him with a mocking gaze.

Apart from his slim figure and perfectly functioning limps, that man undoubtedly had more experience in life than this young guy before him.

Meng Yun grabbed him, quietly asking, “Who’s the person Yu Jiang’s carrying? What happened to them?”

Meng Yun then turned to look at his cousin and father, but what he noticed stunned him; the expressions of his father and cousin were both strange. On the surface, both of the men looked calm. But because of Meng Yun’s scrutinising mind, he turned his sharp gaze to his father’s eyes, searching deeply, where he found a barely restrained and fluctuating anxiousness that was completely unlike that man’s usual self.

That gas man was, of course, none other than Meng Yun. He never thought it would be so easy to get in there, and while he carried in that tank, he took a good look at the man of the hour in secret. That man was skinny, his skin was quite pale, and his looks were quite decent. But it was also clear that he was much older than Yu Jiang. In fact, that man seemed to be around his own father’s age. Is this the kind of man Yu Jiang likes? Meng Yun could not help but picture Yu Jiang’s young, handsome, and domineering appearance in his mind. The realisation caused Meng Yun to think while gobsmacked: I guess you really can’t guess a person’s preferences based on their looks alone.

It was far too obvious of a protective act—too much like a person trying to protect their beloved from harm. It was too eager, too emotional. But... wasn’t the person behind him a man?

Meng Fei’s response was vague. “They’re sick, and because of some reasons, they can’t go to a hospital. So, I asked Uncle for a consultation.”

But what the heck is going on here? This guy... Meng Yun stared at Yu Jiang, astounded. Last time I saw him, he was carrying his pregnant wife to the hospital, but now he’s here, getting mixed up with a man?

“Some reasons?!” If they’re sick, what “reason” could there be for them to not receive treatment at the hospital?

It was far too obvious of a protective act—too much like a person trying to protect their beloved from harm. It was too eager, too emotional. But... wasn’t the person behind him a man?

But then again... if they got hurt because of that kind of thing, then... Meng Yun had no personal experience with homosexuality, but he had handled similar cases as a cop. So he knew that kind of thing between two men made it easy for injuries to happen. He then continued to reason: Considering Yu Jiang’s status and personality, it would not be easy for him to go find a doctor at the hospital himself for the man he had injured in the act. Which was why he had trusted my cousin Meng Fei to bring that man here for my father to see—but!

“If you want to die, tell me, and I’ll oblige.” Yu Jiang was so mad that the veins on his temples were popping.

Why...? Don’t Meng Fei and my father not find it strange that Yu Jiang is actually with a man?

So why did Tang Hong get this idea in his head that my presence would bring this guy harm?

Crap! Meng Yun’s shock was no small matter. This voice... it’s obviously that dummy surnamed Tang! What the heck is going on h—

“What the hell do you keep coming here for? I already told you I’d give you the kid after it’s born. Your presence is unneeded.”

Then, when he looked at Meng Fei, he seemed indifferent, but only upon closer inspection could you pick up on the delicate peculiarities in his emotions and eyes.

“Damn right, I do!” Yu Jiang replied resolutely without missing a beat. Of course, he was my pet! He’s a pet I love dearly. So I’ll love him, hold him, tongue him, and kiss him as much as I like. I won’t allow him to do anything. I’ll take care of his every need. Then I’ll always pinch him twice and give him a sound beating to leave marks on him that serve as proof of my love.

But Meng Fei countered in annoyance, “I never said anything about letting him go! I just meant that you should give him enough space to live his own life! He has his own life to live too! He shouldn’t have to spend every damn day on your bed waiting for you to come back and fυck him!”

“If you want to die, tell me, and I’ll oblige.” Yu Jiang was so mad that the veins on his temples were popping.

There was something brewing in the air, surging under the surface.

Meng Yun grabbed him, quietly asking, “Who’s the person Yu Jiang’s carrying? What happened to them?”

Yu Jiang now understood, but he still stared at Meng Fei for a long time before almost bursting out in a laugh. “You... are you seriously thinking about letting him... is that even possible? Do you not know what kind of body he has?! He—he... he’s even pregnant with your child!”

Then, when he looked at Meng Fei, he seemed indifferent, but only upon closer inspection could you pick up on the delicate peculiarities in his emotions and eyes.

Now a strange paralysing feeling suddenly seized Meng Yun’s heart.

While in a daze, constant and piercing rings sounded in Yu Yanzhang’s ears. It then took him a long time to realise the sound was the doorbell. It was a struggle for him to drag his body off the bed, and only then did he feel how sore his waist was and just how little strength was left in his knees. So when it was time for him to put on his pyjamas, even such a simple task was not easy.

His gaze swept the three men and the “fourth one,” who was currently being carried out of the living room by Yu Jiang. Meng Fei followed slowly from behind, while his father stood unmoving at the door to his study.

iana: The actual fk is wrong with this mf. Every time Yu Jiang says “love,” I choke on laughter. This is entire chapter btw, the "-1" is just for cosmetic purposes.

In Meng Yun’s eyes, it seemed as though a web was drawn between the three men, giving them a sudden sense of inseparability. Moreover, it was clear that the only one left on the outside was him.

At the same moment all that ruckus back at the apartment went down, Yu Jiang was sitting in his office. His secretary then came in to tell him there was someone there to see him, which earned his annoyed response of “No.”

What is it? What on earth could this strange feeling be?

“K-kid?” Tang Hong was stupefied by the question. His face was looking at Meng Yun in a blank.

Was it because of that person Yu Jiang was holding?

The kept man welcomed Tang Hong before explaining, “That’s because the gas man came over. Didn’t you call him?”

Those words of Meng Fei also carried an edge, and now the two sat with their eyes locked onto the other’s, with Yu Jiang’s practically radiating sparks.

I wonder who this man is. Is a male prоstitute? While Meng Yun was judging the man’s appearance and attitude, a voice and footsteps came from outside; someone was muttering to themselves. “Hey, why’s the door not closed?”

That has to be it. It’s clear from the look in both my father and cousin’s eyes.

Why...? Don’t Meng Fei and my father not find it strange that Yu Jiang is actually with a man?

Men Yun then stepped over the things Tang Hong had thrown aside when he rushed in while he was trying to make his way to the door. He almost tripped on a potato, so he ended up looking down, and right next to a bag of vegetables and fruits, a bottle of supplements was rolling around. Meng Yun then read the label of the bottle out loud: “Prenatal Supplements.”

“Hey...” Yu Jiang called out, glaring at him, and only then did Meng Yun realise he was in the way. He remained like that until a light bump against his shoulder—it was his cousin, Meng Fei. He walked over to his cousin with restrained steps, who was staring at him with a mocking gaze.

Suspicious, Meng Yun then wondered, Who is that person, then? What’s their identity? Why do they need to be wrapped so tightly in a blanket?

Now a strange paralysing feeling suddenly seized Meng Yun’s heart.

Now a strange paralysing feeling suddenly seized Meng Yun’s heart.

But just as he was about to dart away, Tang Hong grabbed him, then stammered with widened eyes, “I-i-it’s you! The Plague God! What are you... What sort of trouble did you come here to stir up now?” Just then, Tang Hong remembered Meng Yun had once considered “A” a suspect in that case. Oh no! Could this guy be pretending to be a gasman so he can collect evidence to arrest “A”?! Vigilance now swept over Tang Hong, his steps moving to place him directly between Yu Yanzhang and Meng Yun like a shield. “Hey! Meng! It’s illegal for you to enter someone’s residence. Legal action will be taken, you know!”

Meng Yun was overtaken by an intense curiosity to see the face of that “fourth person” Yu Jiang was carrying in his arms. So one day in the future, in the heart of the bustling city of Nan’an, a uniform-clad blue-collar worker was making his way across an apartment complex’s courtyard. That worker carried a tank of gas and headed straight to the door of apartment B-3-13, where he then rang the doorbell repeatedly. Who knows what was going on in that apartment? But even as that cap-wearing worker rang the bell for a long time despite getting no response, he kept pressing the button hard as though he was sure there was someone home.

It can’t be Meng Zhaoxiong, could it? At this sudden thought, he hurried over to the peephole in the door. But all he saw was a gasman, allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief.

So when it was time for him to put on his pyjamas, even such a simple task was not easy.

After tossing aside the bags he held in his hands, Tang Hong made his way inside to catch the man. As for Meng Yun, he hid behind the door and cursed his bad luck. He resolved that the only way out of this was to go out there with his cap-obscured face boldly and declare, “Oh gosh, darn it! You guys are still good! It wasn’t you guys who called for a replacement tank, was it? Looks like I came to the wrong house. My apologies, sirs. I’ll be on my way then.”

“What the hell do you keep coming here for? I already told you I’d give you the kid after it’s born. Your presence is unneeded.”

“Geez, you’re still as ruthless as ever.” Meng Fei sat down and patted his pounding chest.

Then, when he looked at Meng Fei, he seemed indifferent, but only upon closer inspection could you pick up on the delicate peculiarities in his emotions and eyes.

Men Yun then stepped over the things Tang Hong had thrown aside when he rushed in while he was trying to make his way to the door. This was the kind of love that started with mutual pain and would end with mutual pain as well. As for what the ending will be, Yu Jiang lazily thought of it. It could end in total annihilation. Or it could end the day I got too excited and wrapped my hands around his in the heat of the moment. I could squeeze him, choke him, and snatch away his life in throes of pain and pleasure, making it so the last thing reflected in his dark eyes was me. Who knows? Maybe his old body will get pregnant again. I could force him to carry my child. Then I could watch him die painfully while giving birth, leaving me and the child we share behind.

“Can you stop blabbering on with your nonsense already?!” Tang Hong’s face was as red as a cooked shrimp as he yelled out in a panic, “That woman’s wasn’t mine, alright! No—he wasn’t even a woman! Oh—”

CHAPTER THIRTY

Meng Fei stated, frankly, causing Yu Jiang to stop his drag. He looked Meng Fei square in the eye. “And you think you’re not selfish? You’re more than aware of how old he is, yet did you not still get him knocked up with your kid?” Those dark pupils of Yu Jiang’s, brilliant and dark, were enveloped in a halo of burning red that practically screamed; his anger was still raging.

Tang Hong’s eyes widened. “The gas man? Why? We have enough gas here to last us two whole months! Why would I call them to send a gasman over? Where is he? Is he still here? I’ll go see for myself.”

Tang Hong, already walking inside, had cut that thought of his short. Carrying two huge bags in his hand, he then asked, “Why’s the front door not closed? What if somebody comes in—”

“He wasn’t a woman?” Meng Yun repeated doubtfully, then said with a laugh, “Hey! Meng, are you seriously trying to tell me that was a man? That man dug his teeth into his lip as if he were doing his best not to scream. What’s more, Meng Yun had never seen such a strange expression on a face before, because at that same time his face was as white as a sheet, and that man’s neck and ears were flushed in such a deep shade of crimson they looked close to spilling blood.

The kept man welcomed Tang Hong before explaining, “That’s because the gas man came over. Didn’t you call him?”

“Some reasons?!” If they’re sick, what “reason” could there be for them to not receive treatment at the hospital?

Meng had just gone there that day because he was a bit curious about that male lover of Yu Jiang’s, but this reaction of Tang Hong’s had just ignited his suspicions.

His gaze swept the three men and the “fourth one,” who was currently being carried out of the living room by Yu Jiang. Meng Fei followed slowly from behind, while his father stood unmoving at the door to his study.

It was far too obvious of a protective act—too much like a person trying to protect their beloved from harm. It was too eager, too emotional. But... wasn’t the person behind him a man?

Yu Jiang was pissed enough to directly curse his own mother. Slamming his hands on the table so hard that the lighter on it clattered, he spat at the person who had just walked in. “Fυcking hell! Why the fυck are you still coming here?!”

Apart from his slim figure and perfectly functioning limps, that man undoubtedly had more experience in life than this young guy before him.

So why did Tang Hong get this idea in his head that my presence would bring this guy harm?

What is it? What on earth could this strange feeling be?

Why? Why was it? The confused Meng Yun tried to find a reason while under Tang Hong’s warning gaze. But then his mind wandered to that woman he had seen in Tang Hong’s apartment in the past. A wicked gleam shone in his eyes as he tugged Tang Hong to him and whispered cheekily, “Hey? Hasn’t your kid been born?”

In Meng Yun’s eyes, it seemed as though a web was drawn between the three men, giving them a sudden sense of inseparability. Moreover, it was clear that the only one left on the outside was him.

Yu Jiang had long left the house, and Tang Hong seemed to be out too. As he walked to the door, Yu Yanzhang tried to figure out who the ringer might be.

I wonder who this man is. Is a male prоstitute? While Meng Yun was judging the man’s appearance and attitude, a voice and footsteps came from outside; someone was muttering to themselves. “Hey, why’s the door not closed?”

Yu Jiang now understood, but he still stared at Meng Fei for a long time before almost bursting out in a laugh. “You... are you seriously thinking about letting him... is that even possible? Do you not know what kind of body he has?! He—he... he’s even pregnant with your child!”

Tang Hong cut off his words in an instant, as if he were struck hard by a hammer in the head. There were no words to describe the regret and terror on Tang Hong’s face.

Meng Fei interrupted him and took his time to reply, “What exactly is so wrong about his body? He’s no different than you and me. Is he not an ordinary person who has equal rights? Have you really never considered that he might also have dreams of living an ordinary life? Have you ever thought he doesn’t want to spend his existence as some confined piece of meat for us alone to consume?”

Now a strange paralysing feeling suddenly seized Meng Yun’s heart.

In Meng Yun’s eyes, it seemed as though a web was drawn between the three men, giving them a sudden sense of inseparability. Moreover, it was clear that the only one left on the outside was him.

Tang Hong’s eyes widened. “The gas man? Why? We have enough gas here to last us two whole months! Why would I call them to send a gasman over? Where is he? Is he still here? I’ll go see for myself.”

A woman’s body could never be that slender and hard. As a homicide detective, Meng Yun had been exposed to bodies of all types for a long time, so his observation skills when it came to people were almost without flaw.

Meng Yun had no idea what was going on, so he was stunned when he saw Yu Jiang suddenly appear in his house—and even more taken aback when he saw him carrying a person! That person was wrapped snugly in a thick blanket, but from the curves of their body, it was easy to tell it was a man.

Meng Fei’s response was vague. “They’re sick, and because of some reasons, they can’t go to a hospital. So, I asked Uncle for a consultation.”

Why...? Don’t Meng Fei and my father not find it strange that Yu Jiang is actually with a man?

Yu Jiang was pissed enough to directly curse his own mother. Slamming his hands on the table so hard that the lighter on it clattered, he spat at the person who had just walked in. “Fυcking hell! Why the fυck are you still coming here?!”

“You... do you really just think of him as nothing but your exclusive pet?!” Meng Fei’s words forced their way through the gaps of his gritted teeth.

“I came to see my son-to-be: you~ What, don’t like—hey!” If Meng Fei hadn’t reacted quickly enough, his head would’ve been caved in by the copper vase Yu Jiang launched at him.

“What the hell do you keep coming here for? I already told you I’d give you the kid after it’s born. Your presence is unneeded.”

The kept man welcomed Tang Hong before explaining, “That’s because the gas man came over. Didn’t you call him?”

“You’re too selfish.”

“Geez, you’re still as ruthless as ever.” Meng Fei sat down and patted his pounding chest.

Yu Jiang had long left the house, and Tang Hong seemed to be out too. As he walked to the door, Yu Yanzhang tried to figure out who the ringer might be.

“If you want to die, tell me, and I’ll oblige.” Yu Jiang was so mad that the veins on his temples were popping.

T/N: The ‘keep’ here is like you would a pet.

CHAPTER THIRTY

Tang Hong cut off his words in an instant, as if he were struck hard by a hammer in the head. There were no words to describe the regret and terror on Tang Hong’s face.

“What the hell do you keep coming here for? I already told you I’d give you the kid after it’s born. Your presence is unneeded.”

That has to be it. It’s clear from the look in both my father and cousin’s eyes.

So why did Tang Hong get this idea in his head that my presence would bring this guy harm?

Meng Fei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “There is also no need for you to put up this much of a fight. He’s your father, not your possession.”

“I came to see my son-to-be: you~ What, don’t like—hey!” If Meng Fei hadn’t reacted quickly enough, his head would’ve been caved in by the copper vase Yu Jiang launched at him.

Yu Jiang lit a cigarette in a swift motion, then blew a slow puff of smoke towards Meng Fei and added. “As far as I’m concerned, he is my possession.”

Meng Fei stared at Yu Jiang in astonishment, while that man went on to explain, “Do you understand now? He loves me; he has always loved me. I think that guy started loving me from the first time I held him all those years ago, even though I am his son. He knows staying beside me is painful, yet he still won’t leave me. If he didn’t, why else would he keep coming back to my side time and time again? I know the feelings between us are hard for outsiders to understand. Nonetheless, he loves me, and I also love him. Why do I need to give him any space to be independent? He doesn’t need it. He also doesn’t need to do anything apart from letting me ‘keep’ him. So day after day, all he has to do is obediently wait in my bed and allow me to fυck him. Apart from that, I won’t give him anything more—and I’m sure as hell he doesn’t need anything else either!"

CHAPTER THIRTY

Crap! Meng Yun’s shock was no small matter. This voice... it’s obviously that dummy surnamed Tang! What the heck is going on h—

“You’re too selfish.”

Meng Fei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “There is also no need for you to put up this much of a fight. He’s your father, not your possession.”

There was something brewing in the air, surging under the surface.

Meng Fei sighed helplessly, his mood hitting a low. “I’m truly sorry for that. I really did not mean to.” But his spirits lifted back up just as quickly, with him adding, “Let’s talk seriously now. The re-election for the provincial offices is coming soon.”

Why?

“What does that have to do with anything?” Yu Jiang was confused, so Meng Fei explained, “You dolt! Wasn’t Yanzhang the former governor?”

“What does that have to do with anything?” Yu Jiang was confused, so Meng Fei explained, “You dolt! Wasn’t Yanzhang the former governor?”

Suspicious, Meng Yun then wondered, Who is that person, then? What’s their identity? Why do they need to be wrapped so tightly in a blanket?

Yu Jiang now understood, but he still stared at Meng Fei for a long time before almost bursting out in a laugh. “You... are you seriously thinking about letting him... is that even possible? Do you not know what kind of body he has?! He—he... he’s even pregnant with your child!”

“What does that have to do with anything?” Yu Jiang was confused, so Meng Fei explained, “You dolt! Wasn’t Yanzhang the former governor?”

“You’re too selfish.”

Apart from his slim figure and perfectly functioning limps, that man undoubtedly had more experience in life than this young guy before him.

“Are you trying to tell me I should let him go?” Yu Jiang’s tone was sharp. “Do you honestly believe there’s a chance in hell he could survive without us?”

Tang Hong, already walking inside, had cut that thought of his short. Carrying two huge bags in his hand, he then asked, “Why’s the front door not closed? What if somebody comes in—”

Meng Yun grabbed him, quietly asking, “Who’s the person Yu Jiang’s carrying? What happened to them?”

But Meng Fei countered in annoyance, “I never said anything about letting him go! I just meant that you should give him enough space to live his own life! He has his own life to live too! He shouldn’t have to spend every damn day on your bed waiting for you to come back and fυck him!”

“Some reasons?!” If they’re sick, what “reason” could there be for them to not receive treatment at the hospital?

Even though the gas man’s overalls were dirty, he looked like quite a likeable guy. He then politely asked Yu Yanzhang, “It was you folks who asked for the gas tank, right? Would you like me to carry it in for you?”

Those words of Meng Fei also carried an edge, and now the two sat with their eyes locked onto the other’s, with Yu Jiang’s practically radiating sparks.

“...he loves me.”

Then, when he looked at Meng Fei, he seemed indifferent, but only upon closer inspection could you pick up on the delicate peculiarities in his emotions and eyes.

Even though the gas man’s overalls were dirty, he looked like quite a likeable guy. He then politely asked Yu Yanzhang, “It was you folks who asked for the gas tank, right? Would you like me to carry it in for you?”

T/N: The ‘keep’ here is like you would a pet.

“You... do you really just think of him as nothing but your exclusive pet?!” Meng Fei’s words forced their way through the gaps of his gritted teeth.

Meng had just gone there that day because he was a bit curious about that male lover of Yu Jiang’s, but this reaction of Tang Hong’s had just ignited his suspicions.

It can’t be Meng Zhaoxiong, could it? At this sudden thought, he hurried over to the peephole in the door. But all he saw was a gasman, allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief.

What is it? What on earth could this strange feeling be?

“Damn right, I do!” Yu Jiang replied resolutely without missing a beat. Of course, he was my pet! He’s a pet I love dearly. So I’ll love him, hold him, tongue him, and kiss him as much as I like. I won’t allow him to do anything. I’ll take care of his every need. Then I’ll always pinch him twice and give him a sound beating to leave marks on him that serve as proof of my love.

I wonder who this man is. Is a male prоstitute? While Meng Yun was judging the man’s appearance and attitude, a voice and footsteps came from outside; someone was muttering to themselves. “Hey, why’s the door not closed?”

“He wasn’t a woman?” Meng Yun repeated doubtfully, then said with a laugh, “Hey! Meng, are you seriously trying to tell me that was a man? You—” But his words also came to a halt when he saw that, along with the dumbfounded Tang Hong, he also saw the man behind him desperately twisting his head.

“Are you trying to tell me I should let him go?” Yu Jiang’s tone was sharp. “Do you honestly believe there’s a chance in hell he could survive without us?”

Yu Jiang lit a cigarette in a swift motion, then blew a slow puff of smoke towards Meng Fei and added. “As far as I’m concerned, he is my possession.”

“Geez, you’re still as ruthless as ever.” Meng Fei sat down and patted his pounding chest.

In my final days, I will savour those feelings of regret, pain, and despair, allowing these bloodless blades to slice into my heart inch by inch until I quietly enter death’s embrace. Then, as I die, the one in my thoughts will be the only person I ever loved in this life.

Tang Hong cut off his words in an instant, as if he were struck hard by a hammer in the head. There were no words to describe the regret and terror on Tang Hong’s face.
